Before Your Appointment
Understand the Requirements
-
Fasting
- Begin by fasting for 10 hours before your appointment. This means avoiding any food or drink, except for water, to ensure accurate test results.
-
Substances to Avoid
- For 24 hours before your blood draw, it's important to avoid alcohol, aspirin, and vitamin B3 (niacin). These substances can impact your test results or the ease of the blood draw.
-
Hydration
- Staying well-hydrated is crucial. Drink plenty of water leading up to your appointment to make your veins more accessible, facilitating a quicker and smoother blood draw.
-
Add-On Panels
- For Heavy Metals Panel, avoid seafood and red wine 72 hours prior to test. For the Brain Protection Panel, avoid biotin supplements for 72 hours prior to test. For any blood draw that includes one or more advanced panels, please hydrate well in advance of your appointment, as 8-15 tubes will be drawn.
